Holiday Farmer's Market Saturday Dec. 5, 2009
Don't miss the last Farmer's Market of 2009. They have an exciting array of holiday specialties available for purchase.
Broken Arrow Farms are usually on hand selling fresh eggs, chickens, and veggies. Broken Arrow is located in Zuni, Virginia, so you can be sure that your purchases are locally grown and raised.
I visited the farm to pick up my Thanksgiving turkey and was pleased to see chickens outside in large areas. They were definitely NOT factory raised in inhumane conditions. After seeing the beautiful eggs another customer bought, I asked for a dozen. One of the daughters volunteered to trek out to the chicken coops to collect them. The eggs, in past tense as we finished them within a week, couldn't have been any fresher. Broken Arrow turkeys cook up with incredible flavor and are juicy. I was so impressed as they contained less fat then any turkey I've ever prepared.
What about buying local for Christmas or New Years gatherings this year? How about enjoying a wonderful holiday brunch quiche or fritata with farm-fresh eggs and veggies?
The market usually has vendors offering fresh flowers, arrangements, and/or wreaths. The Virginia Cooperative Extension is usually on hand with helpful information, pamphlets, and a variety of fresh cooking herbs...just in time for that holiday dinner! Farmer's Market bakers will be bringing delicious fresh pies...apple, berry, and cherry.
What about some organic, herb-scented soaps for a stocking stuffer, office gift, or simply to make your guest bathroom special.
There's much more at the Farmer's Market then I've listed here, come visit and see for yourself.
